ASTA Announces Another First Class Upgrade to ASTA Global 2016

Samantha Brown to Emcee at ASTA Global Convention in Lake Tahoe

Alexandria, VA, June 1, 2016 – The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) is proud to announce Samantha Brown will emcee the ASTA Global Convention and award ceremony at the Peppermill Resort in Reno Tahoe Sept 25-28. “This year we wanted to challenge expectations of what an ASTA Global Convention is about,” said ASTA President and CEO Zane Kerby. “We’ve developed meaningful and timely education sessions, expanded our awards program, and now we have one of the travel industry’s most popular personalities as our moderator and emcee.”
Over the last 15 years, Samantha Brown has traveled around the world visiting over 250 cities in 65 countries and 30 of the United States creating over 200 hours of programming.  Her fun-loving style has made her a revered and engaging television personality, and although she reluctantly accepts her title as a travel expert, her approach is less expert, less host and more a person with whom you’d want to travel. “I’ve traveled all around the world to create travel programming and I wouldn’t be able to do my job without the help of great travel agents,” said Samantha Brown. “What I enjoy most about travel is meeting the people, immersing myself in their culture and experiencing their everyday lives.” Clearly, everyone who’s a fan of Samantha’s knows traveling with her would be a wonderful, fun-filled experience.
“ASTA Global Convention 2016 is also about fun. We have Reno Tahoe. We have wonderful sightseeing trips and of course, we have Samantha,” continued Kerby. “But ASTA Global Convention is also about growing an agent’s business, protecting an agent’s business and appreciating outstanding members of the travel community. There will be sessions that address timely issues like customer safety and security, as well as guidelines on how to avoid putting an agent’s travel business at risk.”
And so, if any agent thinks learning, growing and protecting their business doesn’t apply to them, even independent agents – they’ll want to think again.
