On Wednesday, Travel Weekly reported that Australia-based tour operator Excite Holidays has not been responsive to calls and e-mails over the last few weeks. The story appears to confirm reports ASTA received from a number of members that they were unable to make contact with anyone at Excite Holidays. To help you cope with this situation, ASTA has created members-only guidance (see link below) on the state of play and what you can to do make sure your clients are protected.
We will continue to monitor developments in this situation and will update members with new information as it becomes available. In the meantime, advisors with clients who stand to be affected if operations cease should, consistent with the duty of care, notify them of the situation as soon as possible so that alternative travel arrangements can be discussed.
ASTA owns the federal copyrights in the information which it has created above. If you are a dues-paid member of ASTA you may, as a privilege of ASTA membership, use the information above in that business and may share the information with the management and staff, BUT you MAY NOT REDISTRIBUTE OR DISCLOSE BY ANY METHOD the information to ANY PERSON OR FIRM THAT IS NOT AN ASTA MEMBER. Your use of this information constitutes your agreement that if you violate the distribution restriction set out above, you will be liable to ASTA, as liquidated damages, in the amount of $7,500.
