Earlier this month ASTA's VP of International Membership & Expansion, Bob Duglin, traveled to Myanmar to meet with the Union Minister for Hotels & Tourism, Ohn Maung, on expanding inbound tourism from the U.S. Duglin spoke at the first meeting of Myanmar's new ASTA Chapter attended by over 100 members under the leadership of Chapter President Kyaw Bohne Aung. Duglin also represented ASTA in signing a Memorandum of Cooperation with our sister association, UMTA, the Union of Myanmar Travel Association. UMTA was represented by their Chairman, Mr U Thet Lwin Toh.
ASTA & Myanmar will be working closely together on a variety of projects including an ASTA pavilion at their Global Convention, a Myanmar Road Show to meet with U.S. travel advisors along with further tourism education & long term cooperation.
