The addition of “Tee Time to Tea Time”, a women’s-only event increased female golfer participation in the event five-fold.
ST ANDREWS, SCOTLAND, October 24, 2023 — The American Society of Travel Advisors is celebrating a successful second-annual ASTA Travel Masters, an invite-only golf event which supports the trade association's advocacy and this year
included a special focus on women in the travel industry.
This year’s event hosted 16 golf foursomes and 86 total attendees, including a who’s who of travel industry executives who returned to St. Andrews, Scotland for the second year in a row. ASTA took the opportunity to announce that the Travel
Masters will move to Maui in 2024 to be played August 19-22 at the famed Kapalua Golf Course.
“We’re excited that Maui will host Travel Masters next year,” said ASTA President and CEO Zane Kerby. “I was there last week, meeting with local hospitality leaders to determine appropriate service projects we can undertake
to best help Maui recover from the devastating wildfires in Lahaina.”
In addition to the event’s focus on advocacy, this year’s Travel Masters specifically focused on the role of women in the industry. The addition of “Tee Time to Tea Time,” increased female golfer participation five-fold from the
previous year. This women’s-only event will be a permanent fixture in years to come. ASTA also partnered with Windstar Cruises to create the Icon Award, to celebrate female contributions and empowerment within the travel industry. This year’s
first-ever Icon Award was awarded to Gloria Bohan, founder and CEO of Omega World Travel.
The ASTA Travel Masters was brought to through the work of the late Bob Duglin of ASTA along with Ken McNab and Angelina Fairgrave at the Travel Company Edinburgh. For sponsorship opportunities or information on participating in the 2024 Travel Masters
