I have been traveling since I was an infant to such places as Maine and Florida. In 1978, my folks insisted on taking the family on a 6 week cross country trip. Aside from the challenges of packing 5 people, including teenagers, in a small motorhome, it was magical. It cemented my love of the travel experience. As I have gotten older, I have avoided sunburn on such islands as St. Lucia, Turks & Caicos, Grenada the Dominican Republic as well on the island of the great state of Hawaii. I have worked on my sea legs on such cruise lines as Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, Princess and Carnival. The Danube & Rhine rivers called to me and I answered. Courtesy of AMA Waterways and UniWorld River Cruise lines, I have seen some amazing vistas. I have worn the green in Ireland and climbed the Great Wall of China. I celebrated the culture of France in Paris. I have marveled at the architecture in Barcelona. Great Britain is a special favorite since I speak the language, more or less. I have done a snow angel on the Columbia Icefields in Alberta after a fabulous ride on the Rocky Mountaineer. My trip to Japan really knocked my socks off. It ticked every box: food, culture, connection, and people. I have been fortunate that all of my travel have been so wonderful. Each trip emphasized the importance of getting out of your comfort zone. I don't speak Japanese but, with a locals help, I used the Tokyo subway solo & the local rail. My wish is that everyone experience the joy of a new and foreign place with family and friends.
