Lael Hazan has always been interested and passionate about history, food and travel! She holds a BA from UC Santa Cruz with highest honors in western European history with a minor in the Italian Renaissance. She also has dual graduate degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Growing up she joined her family on adventures throughout the United States and Europe and even studied in Mexico during college. Lael married into Italian cooking royalty when she wed cookbook author Giuliano Hazan, the only child of the doyenne of Italian cooking Marcella Hazan. Since 2000 Lael and her husband have run Cooking in Italy, with two locations, one in a Renaissance Villa near Verona Italy, and the other in the heart of the super Tuscan region, near Bolgheri. She has become an expert on Italy and European vacations. In addition to exceeding expectations while assisting her clients in planning their travel, she lectures on Italian food history and writes for multiple publications and blogs. With her husband she has also traveled and taught Italian cooking throughout the world and on many cruise lines. She specializes in concierge travel experiences and has happy clients who have traveled the world. She has multiple destination certifications and is: an expert cruise counselor through CLIA, an ASTA verified agent; and Signature Travel Network expert.
